Welcome to my digital writing journal, or mydigitalclutter. What started as a family blog almost two years ago has morphed into my writing therapy. This is where I do a lot of free writing, mostly about my life with my family and the things that catch my interest. While nowhere even close to perfect, in each post I like to see how my writing is changing with time and practice. Most posts are left unedited for this reason, so if you don't mind, take the journey with me.

Oh my gosh!!!

So, I have done nothing for the past few days but read.  I hadn't read any of the Twilight series until last Sunday.  I have wanted to read them, but was waaaay behind on the phenomenon.  I read the first book last Sunday and over the past week have finished the rest.  I read the last few chapters of Breaking Dawn this morning.  I loved every one of them!!!  I borrowed the last three from my sister-in-law Laura, but I think that I'm going to need to buy them and have them around.  I've been out of everything due to the pull this has had.  I am glad that I have had a time to zone out and do basically nothing but read.  I have missed that.

Perhaps I'll have more to write about later!  But hey, it was fantastic!!

First Day of School!

Today was the first day of school!  The kids were so excited for today.  Last night they each had a father's blessing and were all ready to go.  We took Abbie first, as they have "Back to School" day.  This is her at her desk.
Since this was Nigel's first day of school too, I had them pose together:

We had to come back to school later for Nigel's "Back to School" day.  His teacher is brand new and this is her first year teaching.  She was very enthusiastic and an Aggie to boot.  I think he will enjoy it, even though today was kind of tough.  He didn't like leaving the classroom to watch a video while the teacher spoke with all the parents.  Then he started crying because he had to come home!

We've had a very busy few days and I hope to post more about that later.  We celebrated 11 years of marriage, went to the annual county fair/rodeo in Tremonton, and school started.  Wow.  Can it get any busier?  I'm sure it can!

The kids are in bed...I should be working!

I just haven't had much motivation tonight.  I should be working now that the kids have had baths and are in bed.  I also have laundry to do as well as some other household work.  I was busy today at work, so I'm beat.  The week before school starts is insane!  I have been so busy that I didn't even get a break for lunch today.  I hope that it slows down soon!

So instead of doing all the things I should be doing, I'm watching the Olympics, (don't faint Mom!) and working on a couple of scrapbook pages.  Perhaps I'll work on the house tomorrow!

Temple Quarry Nature Walk

Yesterday we spent some time outdoors in Little Cottonwood Canyon on a little "hike" at the Temple Quarry Nature Trail.  We had a lot of fun, just getting outside and doing a little bit of something different.  It was really interesting to see all the granite that was used for the Salt Lake Temple.  I had never been up there that I can remember, so it was a fascinating walk. We got a little close to nature, before it ran away, but thank goodness for a telephoto lens.  We saw the lizard and I managed to get a couple of snaps before he heard us and took off.
The kids were so cute with their Camelbacks.  I just think that they like drinking out of them more than they "need" them.  There were a lot of bathroom breaks over the day.
Check out the photo blog for some of the pictures that I took.  There were some great shots (in my opinion) of the scenery and nature.

Disney Princess Quiz

I saw this on Tonya's blog and had to give it a try!  For those who know my daughter, our house is full of Disney Princess stuff.  She is so proud of me for being Snow White.

Pure and trusting. You are a gentle soul who can get along with just about anyone. Everyone you meet instantly falls in love with you. How can they resist? You have a pure, lovable nature that's irresistable. Just don't trust everyone who comes across your path.

Which Disney Princess Are You?

How funny!  I don't know, does it suit me?  I am not sure that I'm so gentle, but hey, today I'll take it!

Green

So, as many of you know, our family has gone a bit green.  It has been in the genes for a long time and we have always recycled our aluminum cans, but it escalated as we bought our Toyota Prius.

We haven't water the lawn all summer...okay, so that isn't really because we are conserving water...that's because we tore out the front yard to redo everything and still need to move about 5 tons of dirt before we can finish....but hey, our water bill has been very low!

We've composted in the garden and had spontaneous growing pumpkins (due to last years Halloween leftovers)and have a ton of tomatoes just waiting to turn red.

To conserve energy and to keep the house cooler, I even dry some of the clothes on the line outside.

As I was hanging out some clothes today, I realized that we are doing more to reduce our carbon footprint that I realized.  Our friends laugh and tell us if we buy a motor scooter, they won't talk to us anymore, but hey, 90 MPG is nothing to laugh at.  Now, if I can get a blue one......:)

When all is said and done, there is so much more we should be doing.  Our next vehicle purchase will be a hybrid for sure.  We have loved the Prius and it wasn't bad when we took it to Kansas a couple of months ago.  So, we are green.  That isn't so bad is it?

Saturday is computer day...

Yesterday Daniel spent almost all day working on his dad's computer.  I worked on some digi layouts while I waited.  He ended up staying while the kids and I left to go to Tremonton.  Luckily his dad brought him home, but it was pretty late.  The kids and I were at Pete's house to do a stamping project with Laura.  We are making perpetual calendars for birthdays, anniversaries, etc.  They are so cute!  I'll post pics of them when we finish.  We are only about half way done.

Here are the layouts I did while waiting for Daniel to fix his dad's computer.  He had over 70 viruses/trojans on his disk!  Yikes!  Glad I use a Mac!

We've fallen in love...with LAGOON!

So, for the first time, we took the kids to Lagoon. We went on Stake Lagoon day, August 1, when we had discount coupons from church. It was still pretty expensive, but well worth it.  Both Dan and I had to work, but we decided to go later in the afternoon. It was HOT, but so much fun. We spent an hour or so in the kiddie rides, and got the kids accustomed to the rides.  We met up with the extended Clawson family a little while later. My kids are fearless! Nigel was mad when he wasn't tall enough to go on a ride. Hopefully he will have added some extra inches next year; he is still talking about growing to be able to ride on the roller coasters. He was big enough for the "white" roller coaster. It has always been a big even when someone goes on the "white" coaster. I was probably more than 12 when I went for the first time. I was pretty scared then, but soon learned to enjoy it. Both Abbie and Nigel did really well. Ab was worried at first but then sent crazy for the rides. I am so proud of them! I think that we are going to need season passes next year. They just won't get enough! Gotta love it!

Check this out!

I found this site today by a link on a digi scrapping site.  It is called Wordle.  I had so much fun making up something that represents some of the things that I like!  Try it out!
