Welcome to my digital writing journal, or mydigitalclutter. What started as a family blog almost two years ago has morphed into my writing therapy. This is where I do a lot of free writing, mostly about my life with my family and the things that catch my interest. While nowhere even close to perfect, in each post I like to see how my writing is changing with time and practice. Most posts are left unedited for this reason, so if you don't mind, take the journey with me.

The ABC album completed

Here is the entire ABC album.  I sent them to RitzPix.com, one of the best sites for printing quickly as far as quality.  If I am just going for the cheapest, I'll go to Wal-Mart or Sam's Club, but to be honest, Inkley's (RitzPix is the online photo upload site where they are printed at the store) is my favorite.  They did a spectacular job on one of the wedding photos we had printed for Dan's mom.  Clicking on the pictures will take you to PitzPix.com to order, so you really don't need to do that unless you are one of those family members that want specifically one of the cards.  What is great is that they give you the code for Blogger, so you can share photos with family  to print.  They can choose what they want from the album, and you don't have to e-mail or send it specifically to the store.  It is also nice so you don't have to send the original file size via e-mail!  We all know how that can take forever!  I may do this on my photo site for those wedding pictures!

For the update on Abbie's foot....we have played phone tag with the doctor all week.  She called on Wednesday, not Tuesday like we thought.  We called back, but she was in clinical (She is a teaching doctor at Primary Children's Hospital) and missed her.  Every time we've called back, we've missed her or the office has closed.  Crazy!  Ab seems to be doing okay, but I would still like to talk with doctor about what is going to happen.  I don't like leaving it all in the air.

For anyone interested, I am going to a grocery shopping class tomorrow!  I know, sound boring, but we had a church activity a couple of weeks ago that I wasn't able to go to about how to shop with coupons and save up to 70% on your grocery bill.  I would love that!!!!  One of the ladies in my ward (church geographical area) wasn't able to go either, so she is hosting one of her own.  It is put on my the local newspaper, so of course they are going to try to get us to subscribe, bt if I can save that much for a couple of dollars a week, I'm in.  The woman told me that she had spent $40 last week and got over $120 of groceries!!!  That is fantastic!  Another way to build food storage as well!!

Enjoy the pics or not...It was fun making them!  Have a great weekend and lots of love to all!!!

A Good Day

Today was a great day.  We took Abbie to Primary Children's Hospital today for a bone scan.  She met with the pediatric orthepidist on Friday and she recommended a bone scan to rule out any problems.  It looks like she has a stress fracture that just isn't healing.  She could be back in a cast for ten weeks, but if it will make it heal without permanent damage, I'm all for it.

You may ask why I said it was a good day with this crazy appointment.  Well, we had to be there at two in the afternoon for an IV of dye in order for the radiologist to see the bones during the scan.  We didn't tell Abbie about it because she is terrified of needles and doesn't like going to the doctor as it is.  She had a meltdown about the MRI machine a month or so ago.  The radiologist was so great!  He works with kids daily and knew exactly how to put her at ease.  Abbie sat on my lap and held my hand while he put the "tiny" needle in and gave her the medicine.  She was so cute!  All she said was Ow!  That is fabulous!  She also was a trooper during the scan.  She laid so still for over an hour!  They took so many different angles and pictures!!!  We should hear back from the doctor tomorrow to find out the final results.  I am glad that the radiologist said that nothing looked out of the ordinary.  Let's hope that it all works out.

On to the blog update.  I found a site for blog wear, shabbyprincess.com.  Of course it is a digi scrap site as well, but I had to get some bling for the blog!  I have some other headers and buttons for other seasons/holidays!  I will be reading on the Tips for New Bloggers to figure out how to do some things that I want to do with the buttons.  I'm just not up to speed yet.

I'll post about the results tomorrow!   Love to all!!!!

Alphabet Book

I've been working on a few alphabet pages and wanted to share.  I need to come up with a few ideas on how to do a few of the letters.  I guess I'll stage some pictures!
I think that the kids will really like this book.  It is sure fun to make!

Heartland Military Museum

On our way home from Kansas last week, we stopped in a small town in Nebraska at a military vehicle museum.  My boys loved it!  Of course, Abbie was intrigued as well.  Daniel has a military history in his family, where his grandfather was killed in World War II and his younger brother is currently serving in Iraq.  There was a wall where we could honor current soldiers with a yellow ribbon and a card.  Daniel put his brother's name on the wall with a little note to him.  I added the picture to my Facebook account, so he could see it....just in case he didn't get here!

We had a fun time looking at all the vehicles and there were even a couple that we could climb around in!  I think Daniel has unfulfilled desires of becoming a helicopter pilot!
The kids really liked everything.  Nigel kept asking if things were like M*A*S*H.  For everyone who knows our family....this classic TV show is a big deal.  We have the entire series on DVD.  The vehicles certainly felt like we were in the show!

Dan is at class tonight, so we are by ourselves.  The kids are ready for bed and we are just hanging out, watching TV.  We are pretty quiet.  The week is somewhat busy, because I am taking pictures of a friend of mine, with her family on Friday and then Saturday we will spend the biggest part of the day at the church house for a primary party and bar-b-que for the elder's quorum.  It will be fun!  Somewhere in there I have to make potato salad!

Have a good one!

We're Home!

Okay...so we spent the past few days in Kansas at Daniel's older brother's wedding.  We power drove out on Saturday in order to be at the ceremony on Sunday.  We were going to take two days to come back, but once we got to Cheyenne, WY, we decided to just go on home. It was tiring, but nice.  I'm glad to be home.  I did miss my parent's 'homecoming' on Sunday.  Luckily we were able to spend time with my whole family on Friday night.  My youngest brother Dave flew down from Oregon to be here for the weekend.  I am so sad that I wasn't able to spend more time with everyone, but I did take a ton of pictures.  I'll post them to my photo blog later, but I wanted to just have a couple of my favorites here.  I love my tripod and self-timer!!!  We were able to get an informal family photo.  We weren't able to get a formal one, so this will have to do.
One of my little family~  I can't believe how big my kids are getting!!!

And because I threatened to do it:

I hope you enjoy it Pete & Laura!

I'll post about the trip and wedding tomorrow, after I've had more sleep!

They are Home!!!

Today was fantastic!  I am so happy to have my parents home!  Last night for Family Home Evening we made posters to welcome Grandpa & Grandma home.  We cut out circles and glued them on the posters.  Both Abbie and Nigel had so much fun with it.  I took the posters to their house last night and hung them up.  We had about 50 balloons that I either put on the door or inside their hallway.  The kids didn't get to help hang them because it was after bedtime when I went over, but I promised to take pictures.  It was still up when we went over to see them today!

They look great!  Tired, but great.  I had fun going through all my Mom's "treasures" that she brought back and loved the Canadian Maple Leaf necklace that she gave me.  The kids had some really fun toys that they brought back from Nauvoo.

More than anything I am so glad that they made it home, safe and sound.  I look forward to spending more time with them in the next couple of days, to hear their stories and learn all about their experiences.

Welcome Home Mom & Dad!!!  We Love you!

I am so excited!!!!

My parents will be home on Tuesday!  I can't wait!  They called today while we were in church, and they will be home sometime Tuesday afternoon.  I really am very excited about seeing them again.  It has been a very long time!

I am starting an ABC book for the kids...mostly Nigel with him going into kindergarten this fall.  He already knows his ABC's, but I figure that this is just a cute way that personalizes his learning.  I've only done two, but here they are:
I really love these brag book pages.  I made an album of them for Daniel's mom on Mother's day.  They are small and easy to print, no need to have any special album or pages printed.  I just sent them to Inkley's and had them printed as normal.  I plan to do the same with the alphabet book.  With is being so cheap to print, I can make two!  No fighting for the book between the two kids.

It will be a very busy week for us.  We are going to need to get a few things set up in my parent's house for them, visit with them and Dave, when he comes in on Friday.  While the rest of the family celebrates my Grandma McEvoy's 90th birthday, Dan, the kids, and I will be headed out to Kansas to attend Dan's brother Casey's wedding.  It was a really hard decision for me to skip out on the birthday and homecoming for my parents, but I don't think that I could ask Daniel to miss his brother's wedding either.  We compromised by staying here until after Dave arrived.  I haven't seen him as long as my parents!  It will be nice to be all together for even a while.

Hopefully I'll be able to make it back here before we go!  Have a great week!
